LA FOCE GARDEN

A beautiful garden overlooking the Val d’Orcia

La Foce Estate, just a few minutes from Hotel Lory, is one of the most captivating places in the Val d’Orcia and represents a perfect blend of history, architecture, and landscape. Purchased in the 1920s by Antonio and Iris Origo, the renowned author of “War in Val d’Orcia,” the property was transformed with the help of celebrated landscape architect Cecil Pinsent. The magnificent garden, created between 1925 and 1939, unfolds through elegant Italian-style geometric designs, panoramic terraces, a lemon house, a romantic rose garden with a wisteria-covered pergola, fountains, nymphaeums, and paths leading to the woodland and the evocative family cemetery. Framing it all is the unmistakable landscape of the Val d’Orcia, with its rolling hills and famous rows of cypress trees that shape the iconic Tuscan countryside.

CHIUSI TOWN

Underground in the Land of the Etruscans
Chiusi, one of the most important cities of ancient Etruria, preserves a unique archaeological heritage spanning more than two thousand years of history.
